Patti Casey began her life-long love of dance at the age of seven in her hometown of York PA, when she began classes at Dance Workshop of York with Sherry Mears Clements. During high school, she continued her training in ballet and modern dance at Peabody Institute in Baltimore MD and at Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts. She received her B.F.A. in dance from Purchase College Conservatory of Dance and earned a One-Year Certificate after attending London Contemporary Dance School in London, England. Upon returning to the U.S., she moved across the country, teaching and performing professionally with ballet and modern companies in Minneapolis MN and Boulder CO. She danced for 9 years with Reno’s Wing & A Prayer Dance Company, where she worked with many renowned choreographers such as Lula Washington, L. Martina Young, John Mead, Tina Misaka, Christopher Dolder, Anne Westwick, Sarah Stackhouse, and Artistic Director, Sara Bogard. Patti has been on the faculty of various local studios and dance programs, including Truckee Meadows Community College, where she taught ballet for 14 years. She has most recently performed with Sierra Nevada Ballet, and is a founding member of 5 Branches Dance, a modern dance company.
Patti has been a proud instructor at LDTA since 2012. She believes that the focus, discipline, creativity, class etiquette, and pure joy of movement that students can discover with a dance education will benefit them in many ways – now, and in all areas of their future lives.
